A Review:

After decades of personal practice and study, C. Shadow Fox and Lee Two Hawks gathered their experiences to produce a guidebook for the journey of life we all travel along. They arrange practical guidelines: an arrays of practices designed to raise consciousness synthesizing wisdom gathered from the past three centuries. They provide a guidebook for 21st-Century spirituality.

The authors draw upon personal lessons learned over the years, revealing their past challenges and practices. They show readers how to align body, mind, and soul according to spiritual and cosmic laws, principles, and characteristics. Shadow Fox and Two Hawks add exercises and illustrations along with summaries at the end of each chapter and section. These provide easy means to reflect, learn, and test tools and lessons.

From the Introduction: “This guidebook is a content-oriented, multifaceted source for energy awareness, transcendence, and manifesting.”

I should caution modern seekers to hold assumptions and allow the language and spiritual meanings of words and phrases to have their moments before reacting to their own preconceptions. For instance, “surrender” has a narrow meaning devoid of spiritual significance. So, the specific usage should be taken in to illustrate a Shadow Fox lesson.

Some principles may be ordered differently from some ancient traditions. Once again, as teaching tools, readers are encouraged to take them in without rigid adherence, for instance, to Pythagorean or Tibetan usage. Careful consideration of stylized usage may expand a reader’s spiritual perceptions through creative imagination and intelligence. Opportunities abound as readers travel along with C Shadow Fox and Lee Two Hawks throughout this guidebook.

Finally, as the authors suggest in the introduction, readers are encouraged to move forward, chapter by chapter. Take in the exercises, contemplate on their perceptions and reactions before moving on to the next chapter. I recommend reflecting on spirituality as an art, one evoking an aesthetic response.

Good journeying with these two Native guides who write for a diverse audience. Four Stars **** for Spiritual Logic Behind the Power of Words and Beliefs, available from Artisans of the Spirit in paperback and in an interactive Kindle edition.
