Building Places for Independent Journalists
Independent journalists who maintain regular relationships as contributors or correspondents for multiple-news outlets can benefit from a new-collective effort of Indian Voices and Democracy Watch News. Indian Voices will establish and maintain a directory of journalists who request a listing and safeguard their contact information. Democracy Watch News will coöperate in this effort and direct independent journalists to establish a place in this new resource. Other news organizations are invited to ask to join in the work necessary to build and maintain this essential resource. Interested organizations should contact president@democracywatchnews.org.
As a collective effort in service of independent media and journalists, Indian Voices and Democracy Watch News will work with journalists included in the listing to expand the distribution of their reporting and work. More information will become available as the project develops. In today’s descent into media consolidation, with fewer opportunities for independent journalists, Indian Voices, Democracy Watch News, and other nonprofit news organizations stand committed to promote best practices, media responsibility, and press freedom around the world. Watch for updates on their web sites.
